M. C. Escher

I like M. C. Escher’s use of confusion. In his world you don’t know if you are going up the stairs or down them, are the flying north or south and which are the birds the black area or the white.

No one can confuse and delight you more than M. C. Escher and make it all seem like it can be done.

My favorite piece of his is “Bond of Union” seen below. The way the heads are made into ribbons and then intertwined with each other says a lot about relationships and caring enough to become bonded to another person.

M. C. Escher is one those artists whose work you look at and see something new every time you look at it.

I was looking through your paintings just now. You certainly demonstrate masterful craftsmanship with your Dalinian pastiches and surreal paintings. I'm only curious why you don't use one point perspective in your work. Your compositions contain many orthogonals that could benefit from obeying a point of origin where you want the viewer's eye to fall. Your pieces are strong without it, but at the same time it might help to make them even stronger. Just a thought.

Hey Ryan,
Thanks for the comment. I want the viewers to concentrate on the entire painting not just a certain point.
